Easter at Lush!! The Immaculate Eggception

I bought this from Lush cosmetics on the High Street. The beauty of buying from the shop is I can get to smell before I purchase.  This has three different essential oils combining to make a gorgeous scent for the bath - grapefruit, lemon and vanilla.  Do these oils combine to  give a chocolatey fragrance?  Personally I don't think so but with such a gorgeous smell I don't care about that.  Pure luxury is more all important where relaxation in the bath is concerned.  A surprise element is are you going to find an easter bunny or an easter chick in the egg!!  As you can see I found the easter bunny.  All I  need now is a chocolate face mask and one of these three pieces of the bath bomb in my bath for total 'me' time

weekend in Northampton

Took a trip to Northampton at the weekend and stayed at the Park Inn by Radisson hotel.  Nice hotel, great breakfast by why oh why does the health spa close at 7pm.  That aside, we went to visit 78, Derngate.  A house commissoned to Charles Rennie Mackintosh to decorate it in the modern style of the times in the 1920s,  Art deco...  Awesome design, so inspiring.  Had to wear these plasticy slippers over our shoes to protect the floors.  The house itself was a Georgian, terrace spread over 4 floors.  http://www.78derngate.org.uk/. to read about this fascinating slice of history from a now recognised, important designer of his time.

It was a fun weekend apart from the fact  it was out of season there was not much to do but hey, there are some super shops there and not too crowded, even on a saturday afternoon.

simple silver charm bracelet

This was a simple silver bracelet i made. I bought a small link belcher chain in a bracelet length.  Bought a separate clasp.  The key ring hooks on the charms themselves  were very fiddly, I used silver jump rings to attach the charms to the bracelet.  Only have the 3 charms because as they say in the world of design;- 'less is more'.

Shaped Copper bangle

I had some spare copper and decided to make a bangle with it, After guillotoining the slight angle shape I wanted for the hammered side of the bangle I then welded the 2 strips of copper together.  I filed the edges of the bangle to get the rounded off edges and wet and dry sandpaper to get rid of any sharpness. Hard to perhaps detect in this picture, need another but the entire bangle has a satin finish using a buffer designed for that effect reducing shine.

A monthly treat for hair with hot oil treatment

I used grapeseed oil because it is easily absorbed, gives hair shine and reduces brittleness, It is good for all hair types. I used a combination of patchouli, sandalwood and geranium. This combination of oils makes this treatment good for all skin types and on a personal note I love the smell. And for hair like mine that sees heated appliances on a regular basis a hot oil treatment is a must.

Brown sugar and rose body scrub

I made a body scrub using 4 tablespoons of brown sugar, 2 tablespoons of sweet almond oil and 1 tablespoon of vitamin  E oil and added 2 drops of rose essential oil. Plenty enough for an all over body scrub.   It made bath very slippery even with a mat but so worth using.  Skin feels divine and no extra scrub needed for those rough areas like heels, knees, elbows, this can be concentrated on those areas. I have a thing about rose at the moment but probably because the weather s getting warmer.......
